I used to have to pull my ear back when I was a kid but now I got really big ear holes I guess because I can get those foam ear plugs to touch my eardrum without pulling back. TMI I know, but be careful not to put it too deep

I think, you are right. Although, I want to add another thought from my experience. I do have a difficult time at the moment and riding helps me, clearing my head and getting of darker thoughts, as you said. And there is more. The joy of riding, experiencing that feeling in darker times, sets a counterpart to the mood, you are in. And you can always connect to that feeling. It‘s a spark in the dark - but you have seen it - it is there.

For me the throttle therapy has been a great thing. just like with anything, it can be temporary if the actual problem isn't taken care of. Riding for me has been the most consistent thing and has really been the best.

I raced TZ Yamahas in the 70s. My ears would ring for three days after a race meeting. I also did a lot of long drives at speed (in old cars ) towing the bikes to race weekends. My ears have been ringing for years now. All the time. Being old and ugly is boring. Its much worse being deaf as well.

if you're a beginner rider and 39hp is too much for you, find a different hobby. It makes less power than a normal 250cc dirtbike.

So very true! I say that riding is one of two things that clears my mind where all the stress melts away. It's because you need to put the intrusive thoughts away and focus on the task at hand. So true too about it being a temporary thing. I look forward to my tours, but man, when you come back to reality it's still there.

Riding has ZERO impact on my mental state. Bicycling and especially mountain biking does however since I am actually exercising which is a stress reliever.

Sadly, ive actually experienced the opposite when it comes to sportbike riders and the motorcycle community. I ride a metric cruiser. And most of the time i find the sportbike riders to be closed minded and only care about sportsbikes. Thinking they are the superior bike. I've even had multiple of them tell me to sell my bike and get a sportsbike instead. Where as other riders (supermoto, cruisers, adventure and even dirt and mini bikers) in my area, are MORE open minded and welcome all types of riders more. Again. This is only MY experience. And of course I've met other sportbike riders that are really cool and really open minded, but they were more of the exception. Either way. I do agree they are overall more open than the car community. Love them both. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I was one of the guys that came back from Iraq and bought a Yamaha R6. It was total freedom in the seat. The breeze just pulls away everything that seems to be on your mind. It is you, the road and your bike. Total Freedom.

As this was 6 years ago, I wonder how you have progressed. (I know this isn't really a programming channel, but the topic struck a cord with me.) It's funny I was just having a conversation with a friend of time who also learned how to edit her NeoPets page. Loved NeoPets back in the day. I started programming from playing Counter-Strike and wanted to make like Jet Packs and Lasers that one of the servers I went into had installed in their server. Their admin was nice enough to take him under his wing and helped me to learn the basics. Strangers on the internet, sometimes cool -- Please kids don't talk to strangers on the internet.

I just use some Mack's 33NR earplugs, they are comfy and I feel they reduce noise quite a bit, I ride an 883 with Screaming Eagle slip ons and it gets pretty loud when riding, the droning noise can get very annoying sometimes. I used some plastic reusable earplugs from Hearos that I bought at Guitar Center but they make my ears hurt after some time and I remember one of the last times I used them they left me with pain on my left ear for a couple of days so I just stick to foam now, they aren't very visible and they are comfy. The only downside is that I produce a lot of earwax and it just pushes it in, so it makes my T louder at times and if I don't clean my ears often or properly it can cause me ear infections too.

maybe try the alpine motosafe earplugs i have not used them myself but my motor dealer says they are the best so far

What I found is a good idea is not to wear full black protective gear as it makes you more invisible... White helmet, some colored gloves, and even if your jacket is black should at least have some colours on it. Same thing with the bike. Red Honda and green Kawasaki bikes are the easiest to spot.

are there any other means of protecting my hearing while riding? my ears are to sensitive and any foreign object such as an earplug causes a lot of issues so I did not wear any earplugs and only after 4000km of riding the hearing in my right ear is gone, replaced by a not very nice tinnitus orchestra 24/7...I would like to return to riding one day but I don't want to risk losing hearing in my left ear as well

Hi Lali. If I could offer my 2 cents and something I feel passionate about, then bin all those other plugs you've just reviewed and get yourself custom ear plugs. I've been riding for 20+ years (adventure / touring) and most of those years have with custom plugs and using the 100% filter. If it didn't sound so dumb, I would say I rate my earplugs as more of a safety item than my helmet. I don't know what they would now cost in the USA, but I would hazard a guess at $150. Pricey, perhaps, but with ear damage mostly irreversible, a bargain. They're not a big deal to get done and are quite easy to fit (yes, I lick mine). Way easier than Rossi's trick. Even with the 100% filter, I am never worried about not hearing important traffic noise. I am guess that without I would definitely have tinnitus and at least 50% hearing loss (if not more) by now.

hi, enjoying your review and I have a question. You mentioned you're recording in 1080p. RUclips limits the bitrate of 1080p videos to 12 Mbps (fast moving road and tree textures will suffer) while 4k video can be upto 68 Mbps. My question is, would it be better to record in 4K and upload to youtube in 4K, or record in 1080p and upscale to 4k afterwards to use youtubes higher detail rate?

Great video Lali! I would consider my mental, emotional, and physical health to be really good. The joy I get from motorcycling is just an added benefit. I think you hit the nail on the head with the studies and why/how motorcycles effect mental health. They are so much fun, you get a big endorphin dump while riding, not to mention the focus required when riding spiritedly makes all the other head noises stop. I really admired how open you were about your own mental health and talking about seeking some help online as a good alternative to in person therapy. I think more people would benefit from taking an honest look at their values, what is important to them, and what standards they have for themselves and partners. To many of us go through life not reflecting or defining these things and it leaves us... in the wind, for lack of a better term. Kudos, keep up the solid content. Always love your posts.

Thanks for this input. I've got friends that I've heard say "I need wind therapy to clear my head.". I've never understood that since I'm so extremely hyper-focused while riding. (When I get home from being out for a couple hours, I almost feel exhausted from it.) It makes sense that the feeling comes from literally having to focus on nothing else.
